An Introduction to English Teaching and Research Section
英语专业教研室成立于1994年，多年来培养了大批英语专业人才。现有翻译和师资两个专业方向，有专任教师34名，担任外国语学院专业基础课和专业主干课的教学任务。其中教授2人，副教授8人，讲师11人，助教13人，高级职称人数比例为29%，博士研究生学历1人，硕士研究生学历23人（其中正在攻读硕士学位者5人），占英语专业教研室总人数的70%。其中50岁以上1人，40岁至50岁之间5人，30岁至40岁之间18人，30岁以下10人。职称、学历、年龄结构基本合理。
教研室成员主要毕业于西北师范大学、兰州大学、西安外国语大学、华东师范大学，有三名教师在英国利兹大学获得语言学硕士学位。
教研室主要承担以下专业课程的教学：综合语言技能、笔译、语言学、阅读、语法、语音、口译、写作、英美文学、美英报刊选读、教学法等。
English Teaching and Research Section is directly subordinate to the School of Foreign Language．It was founded in 1994 and covers two major orientations：Translation and English Teaching．A great number of graduates have been cultivated in the specific fields since its founding．The section has a teaching staff of 34 teachers，including 2 professors，8 associate professors，11lecturers and 13 teaching assistants．The number of senior professional titles occupies 29%．Among the staff 1 has got the doctor’s degree and 23 have acquired the master’s degrees．The number of the teachers with the master’s degrees takes up 70% of the total，among whom one is over fifty years old，5 are in their forties，18 in their thirties and 10 below thirty years．Thus，a desirable structure in professional titles，academic credentials and age is being framed．
The teachers are mainly graduated from Northwest Normal University，Lanzhou University，Xi’an International Studies University，East China Normal University ，etc．．3 teachers obtained their master’s degrees in University Leeds in UK．
The section undertakes the following subjects：Intensive Reading，Extensive Reading，Translation，Interpretation，Linguistics，English Writing，English Grammar，English Pronunciation &Intonation，Selected Articles from American &British Newspapers and Magazines，Anthology of English Literature，Anthology of American Literature，English Teaching Methodology and many others
